Why King Family Doodles?
What sets King Family Doodles apart?
Temperament
First, they have calm, tolerant, sweet temperaments. Our puppies have been raised with Puppy Culture, a program that allows puppies to become enrichment-seeking, intelligent learners who have better impulse control. We train our puppies with a clicker before they even turn 5 weeks old. They are taught to ask you for attention by "manding," a sitting pose instead of jumping up or barking. This program starts in the first 16 days of age when puppies are exposed to very small amounts of stress through 5 activities in a protocol called Early Neurological Stimulation. This is a scientifically proven method that has life-long impact on your puppy.
From the AKC website:
"Five benefits have been observed in canines that were exposed to ENS, including improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate); stronger heart beats; stronger adrenal glands; more tolerance to stress; and greater resistance to disease."
KFD works hard to match each puppy to the right family. We use early temperament testing to ensure a smooth transition into each family home.
Health
Second, our puppies' parents were tested through Embark for over 130 genetic conditions known to affect their parent breeds, Standard Poodle and Golden Retriever. Anyone can breed their 2 pets and hope for the best. But, testing for and ruling out any known genetic conditions gives them the best chance of the best life-long health. Ollie, Emmie, and Ivy have also gone through the process of OFA testing their hips, elbows, patellas, hearts, and eyes. Their hips both scored with a "Good" rating, and both have "Normal" elbows, patellas, eyes, and hearts. All of these can be found in the OFA database by typing in their first names and the last name LeRoy. This health testing is the highest available for their breeds. Emmie has achieved CHIC registration for Poodles as she has had all of the recommended testing for Poodles. This standard does not yet exist for Goldendoodles, but Ollie has also achieved CHIC-level testing for both parent breeds. Ivy has 2 more tests to complete, then she will also have achieved CHIC-level testing for both breeds.
Training
Our puppies are being trained to use turf for going potty. Turf is one of the best surfaces as it mimics grass, the surface where most puppies will be trained to go potty outside. Puppies are also trained to begin to sleep in a crate. Dogs are den animals. They love to have a quiet, dark space to sleep that fits them well. As mentioned above, puppies have also already been trained to a clicker. Goldendoodles love to please! They are ready and eager to be trained. It's your job to continue this fun activity with your learning-hungry puppy when they arrive at your home. They have a great start here, and our families have told us how much fun they have had training their new puppy in their first weeks and months at home.
